Tas:Stand-off continues as guards try to negotiate with inmates

A tense stand-off continues inside Hobart's Risdon Prison .. where a group of inmates
is holed up in an accommodation unit after overpowering a guard.

Up to 28 prisoners have taken control of Division 4 accommodation unit after struggling
with a guard who escaped and was not injured in the incident.

Director of Corrective Services PETER HOULT says the rest of the prison is locked down
and the Tasmania Prison Service Tactical Response group has been called to the prison
and is on stand-by.
